Gordon has just successfully scaled up his account for the second time on our Freestyle program. He is now trading a $100K funded account on the Freestyle, He did it in only 6 weeks keeping 100% of the profits, and he is also funded a $40K account on the low risk.
His next mission on the Freestyle is to complete another 100 trades and keep a consistent performance to grow his Freestyle account to $125K.
His next mission on the low risk is to reach 10% of profit and double his funds to 80K.
We spoke with Gordon about his trading plan, insights, and lessons gained while trading in the Forex market and our platform as a funded trader.

- Tell us a little bit about you.
Single father of 2 kids working in Calgary as an application support specialist.
- How long have you been trading?
I have been trading for about 8 years with forex. , and I am a Scalper.
- Briefly describe your Trading Plan and how it contributes to your success.
I combine high timeframe trend with economic news. I use a lower timeframe and incorporate simple ea to open deals with specific risk. Then I manage those deals while focusing on higher timeframes. I cut losers quickly and try not to be tempted to close winners too early
- Share with us a challenge you faced in your trading career and how you overcame it?
Trading and winning can be exciting but I’ve always micromanaged my trades. I’m learning to ignore those feelings of fomo and wanting to micromanage trades. To do this, i’m trying to trust the trade and walk away.. keeping lot sizes low enough that loses won’t discourage me and trusting the plan. I still struggle but at least now I’m starting to identify when I’m about to f%^ck things up and I simply do something else to distract me. 🙂
- How did you adjust risk management to your trading personality?
I always feel I should have trades running. but I’m working on that. I like the freestyle program because I can easily have very low risk while concentrating on the quality of the trades and not so much the size.
- Describe a key moment in your trading career.
I’m not sure if there was a single moment, but a long slow learning curve. At one point I stopped considering trades as money and only as numbers. if that makes sense and my trading started to become a little better and my anxiety was substantially lower.
- How long it took for you to become a consistent trader, and what aspects did you change that helped you to become consistent?
It is currently taking me a long time, but I think I’m getting better. I’m cutting losses sooner. trusting winners to run. using longer timeframes and trying not to focus on the trades when they are in play. second-guessing and micromanagement can really cause failure
- What is your mental/psychological strength, and how did you develop it?
When I feel myself getting too close to the trades, instead of getting excited, or discouraged, I do something else. I do enjoy trading so I have some demo accounts that I play with if I feel the need to gamble.
- What was your strategy for successfully passing The5%ers’ First Level?
With the freestyle account, I decided to use low lot sizes so I can concentrate on the plan and not so much on the risk. that worked really well and at 50 trades I had a great performance factor.
- How is trading for the5ers different from trading by yourself?
Trading with the5ers removes the anxiety of losing my own money. When trading with my own money, it becomes a bit more personal. Removing that attachment helps with being able to concentrate on the plan and not the actual money value.
- What would you recommend to someone who is just starting with us?
I would recommend starting ‘slow and low’. take a single trade. make it a low lot size and get the feel for it. have a plan and grow that plan. don’t get excited, dont get discouraged, relax and you’ll do fine.
