Suhail is a professional trader from Kerala, India, and the co-founder of Currency Pips and SMK Stock Market Kerala — two ventures built around trading education and a growing community of traders. His story, however, is not one of overnight wins or secret indicators. Instead, it is a patient, three-to-four-year climb built on price action, risk management, and the kind of self-honesty that most traders take years to develop. Recently, we sat down with Suhail to talk about the challenges that shaped him, how he thinks about risk at different account stages, and what it has been like to earn his place trading with The5ers.

Let’s Start At The Beginning — Who Is Suhail?

“My name is Suhail, and I’m from Kerala, India. I’m a professional trader and the co-founder of Currency Pips and SMK Stock Market Kerala, where we focus on trading education and building a strong community of traders.”

That community focus runs through everything Suhail does. Indeed, he is not only trading his own accounts; he is also helping other people in Kerala understand the markets and approach them the right way. Clearly, it is a role that has sharpened his own thinking, because teaching a method forces you to know exactly why it works.

How Would You Describe Your Trading Plan, And Why Does It Work For You?

“My trading plan is simple. I primarily focus on price action and avoid overcomplicating my strategy with too many indicators or setups. I focus on identifying high-probability opportunities, managing my risk properly, and staying disciplined. Keeping my approach simple helps me stay consistent.”

It is a theme he returns to again and again: simplicity as a competitive edge. Whereas many traders bolt on more indicators to feel more certain, Suhail strips his charts back to price and waits for clean, high-probability setups. Ultimately, that simplicity is not laziness — rather, it is what makes his approach repeatable day after day.

What Was The Biggest Challenge You Had To Overcome?

“My biggest challenge was developing consistency and controlling my emotions. In the beginning, I focused too much on making profits rather than following a process. Over time, I learned that discipline, risk management, and patience are much more important than trying to win every trade.”

This is one of the hardest lessons in trading, and Suhail is candid about how long it took to internalise. In truth, the shift from chasing profit to trusting a process is the moment most traders either break through or burn out. For him, therefore, letting go of the need to win every trade was the turning point that made everything else possible.

How Does Your Risk Management Change Across Different Account Stages?

“During the evaluation stage, I’m slightly more aggressive because my main goal is to complete the objectives efficiently. Once I’m in the funded stage, I become much more conservative. I mainly focus on a 1:1 to 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio and prioritise capital preservation and consistency over aggressive returns.”

This is a mature, stage-aware way to think about risk. During evaluation, because the objective is clear and finite, a slightly more assertive approach makes sense. Once real capital is on the line, however, Suhail flips into preservation mode. Prioritising consistency over big swings is exactly the mindset funded firms want to see, and as a result, it is a large part of why he has been able to keep his accounts.

Was There A Single Moment That Changed Your Career?

“A key moment in my trading career was when I started trading with funded firms. It completely changed my perspective on trading. It taught me the importance of risk management, discipline, and consistency, and it also gave me the opportunity to trade larger capital without putting a large amount of my own money at risk.”

Funded trading did two things for Suhail at once. First, it removed the pressure of risking large sums of his own money; second, it imposed a structure that demanded discipline. That combination — bigger opportunity paired with firmer rules — ultimately reshaped how he saw the entire endeavour.

How Long Did It Actually Take To Become Consistent?

“It took me around 3 to 4 years, and I would say the journey is still ongoing. Becoming consistent wasn’t about finding a perfect strategy. It was about improving my discipline, psychology, risk management, and ability to follow my trading plan.”

There is a quiet honesty here that new traders should sit with. Notably, Suhail does not claim to have arrived; instead, he describes consistency as something he keeps working on. And notice what he credits it to — not a strategy, but discipline, psychology, and execution. In the end, the edge was never a setup. It was the trader behind it.

What Is Your Greatest Psychological Strength, And How Did You Build It?

“My biggest psychological strength is discipline. I focus on taking only one quality trade per day instead of overtrading. Maintaining a proper trading journal has also helped me understand my mistakes, emotions, and patterns. These habits have played a major role in improving my trading psychology.”

One quality trade a day is a deceptively powerful rule. For one thing, it removes the temptation to force action on a quiet market, and it keeps his standards high for every setup he takes. Moreover, paired with a detailed trading journal, it turns each session into a feedback loop — every trade reviewed, every emotion noted, and every pattern understood a little better than the day before.

What Was Your Strategy For Passing The5ers Level 1?

“I used my usual price action strategy, focusing on identifying clean setups, waiting patiently for the right opportunity, and managing my risk. I didn’t try to overtrade just to reach the target quickly. Keeping my strategy simple helped me stay focused throughout the evaluation.”

Notably, Suhail did not change a thing for the evaluation. Instead, he trusted the same simple, patient approach that works for him every day rather than reaching for a special ‘challenge mode’ strategy. Resisting the urge to overtrade toward a target is where many candidates trip up — and, in his case, where discipline paid off.

How Does It Feel To Trade With The5ers?

“It has been a very good experience. There are many funded firms in the market, but The5ers is one of the firms I trust the most. I particularly appreciate its reputation, long-term presence in the industry, and the overall trading environment it provides.”

For a trader whose entire method is built on consistency, trust in the firm naturally matters. Specifically, Suhail points to The5ers’ reputation and staying power as the reasons he feels comfortable trading there — qualities that, in turn, let him focus on his charts rather than worrying about the platform behind them.

Finally, Which Resources Shaped Your Journey The Most?

“My trading journey has been shaped mainly by practical experience, price action education, market analysis, and learning from my own trading mistakes. I also learned a lot by studying charts, maintaining a trading journal, and continuously reviewing my previous trades. For me, real market experience and self-analysis have been the most valuable resources.”

It is a fitting note to end on. After all, Suhail’s most valuable teachers were the market itself and his own reviewed mistakes. There was no shortcut and no magic course — just screen time, honest self-analysis, and the discipline to keep learning from every trade. For any trader hoping to follow a similar path, that may be the most useful lesson of all.

Today, Suhail continues to trade with The5ers and to share what he has learned through Currency Pips and SMK Stock Market Kerala. His advice, distilled: keep it simple, protect your capital, take one quality trade at a time, and let discipline — not the desire to win — run the show.
