  • Tell us a little bit about you.
I used to be a performance analyst for elite sports and have been to three Olympics in London, Rio, and Tokyo. I now trade Full time for the 5ERS and have my own personal account.

  • How long have you been trading?
    I have been a full-time trader for 2.5 years.

  • Briefly describe your Trading Plan and how it contributes to your success.
ICT for entries and pound average to manage out and into trades.

  • Please share with us a challenge you faced in your trading career and how you overcame it.
The biggest challenge was to become consistent. The problem wasn’t the analysis of the chart and the executions. The problem was that I didn’t have the belief deep down that I could make this work and go full-time. Imposter syndrome was kicking in after every success I had. So I had to work a lot on my psychology to live and breathe success instead of doubt and fear.

  • How did you adjust risk management to your trading personality?
The scruffy trader showed me the ropes and how to use the Scruffy Madness tool to be able to manage my trades better. I now have taken that and my personality and created a version that works for me. Especially on the lower time frames.

  • Describe a key moment in your trading career.
Passing the 5%ers Bootcamp was definitely a milestone in my trading. It gave me the confidence needed to take my trading to the next stage of consistency.

  • How long does it take to become a consistent trader, and what aspects did you change that helped you become consistent?
It took me a bit more than two years. Luckily I had The Scruffy trader, that helped me and mentored me throughout. I then found the ICT 2022 concept. That really helped me have a deeper understanding of price action and setups.

  • What is your mental/psychological strength, and how did you develop it?
My edge in trading is that I am extremely calm under pressure, and that probably comes from needing to be really calm around athletes, especially when competing for an Olympic gold medal. I have also done a lot of fast-track learning with my wife, Jennifer, who overcame being bed bedbound with chronic fatigue by using mind-body tools and getting a better understanding of how our childhood can be impacting our daily lives. Minor or major trauma that might have happened in our life that we are not aware of just because we have never had to bring it to the surface. Not being able to close a losing trade might have a lot more to do with your childhood and previous experience than you think so.

  • What was your strategy to successfully pass The5ers’ First Level?
I passed the boot camp and the first milestone to receive the $125000 account using The Scruffy Trader method. A top-down approach, taking bias from higher timeframes and Fibonacci levels for execution and entries. Now I am trading the ICT concept London Killzone, looking for a break of structures and fair value gaps on the lower timeframes (5min to 1min).

  • How is trading for the5ers different from trading by yourself?
Doing the challenge made me a better trader. I had to really focus on my risk management and positions of stops. It also slowed things down for me. I have now taken all this knowledge into my personal account.

  • What would you recommend to someone who is just starting with us?
I would say make sure you start with a small lot size first. You want to make all the mistakes when you are not risking a lot of capital. After you have proven your consistency, then you can start increasing size. Trading is more of a mental game, make sure you spend as much time training the mindset as much as you analyse the charts.
